Since travelling to Poland and Slovenia this year, my interest in visiting more European countries has grown. Upon my return from Slovenia I began research, focused on European destinations which I have yet to explore. Through this research I have shortlisted which cities I want to visit next. These are listed in no particular order, as they all hold my attention for different reasons.

Vienna, Austria
Vienna is Austria's capital. It is a very historic city and is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. What draws me to Vienna is it's unique mixture of architecture styles which span over decades. As someone who used to study art, I have always been inspired by architecture and I find that it can really offset the atmosphere in a city.

Florence, Italy
For me, Florence is the most romantic of Italy's major cities. Set against the serene Tuscan hills, this beautiful city has much to offer. I could happily spend hours wandering through the city's gardens, museums and bustling cobbled streets. Florence is surrounded by many other Tuscan destinations, which are only a short drive away, making it the perfect location for those who enjoy day trips to smaller cities.

Reykjavik, Iceland
Home to the famous Blue Lagoon, Reykjavik is perhaps one of the more unique European cities on this list. I am drawn to Reykjavik by it's quaint Icelandic charm. A center for innovative architecture, there are many interesting buildings located in Reykjavik which are very contemporary in feel compared to traditional Icelandic architecture. Favourites of mine include the Harpa, a concert hall, and Hallgrimskirkja, a church which is also the tallest building in Iceland.

Vaduz, Liechtenstein
As one of the two more unusual destinations on this list, Vaduz has a surprising amount to offer given it's size. Liechtenstein is a tiny country situated between Switzerland and Austria and Vaduz, it's capital, has a population of only around 5,000 however this is not the largest city in Liechtenstein. I would be very interested to explore Vaduz and see which parallels are emmulated from Swiss and Austrian culture.

Warsaw, Poland
My recent trip to Poland was brief, I only had a few days there and it left me wanting more. I know a handful of people from various cities in Poland and they all assure me that Warsaw is well worth a visit. From my own research I can deduce that it is certainly a beautiful city with a rich history. Much of the city was destroyed in World War II however the city has been restored and stands more beautiful than ever.

Dubrovnik, Croatia
Famously known as 'the pearl of the Adriatic', Dubrovnik is a striking medieval city and it's Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 'Set Jetting' is currently a trend in the industry. This is when people travel to a destination made famous by a film or tv show. Much of the 'Game of Thrones' series was filmed in Dubrovnik and this has increased awareness of it as a tourist destination. The city has become increasingly popular due to this exposure, and it cannot fail to disappoint those who visit because it has so much to offer.

Kotor, Montenegro
The second pf the two lesser known destinstions on this list, the coastal town of Kotor is located in the Gulf of Kotor and the scenery here is beautiful. Whilst the town itself is stunning with it's Mediterranean style buildings, the thing that really sets this destination apart is it's breathtaking views of the mountains that encapsulate the town. Located in Kotor's Old Town, the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon was built 851 years ago and still stands today.
